Judaica
Judaica is the name for Jewish ceremonial objects used for ritual purposes. The collection at Sandys Row Synagogue has been gathered since the inception of the building in the 1850s and certain artefacts are still used on a weekly basis. The images below of some of these ritual objects from this collection, which include Kiddush cups, a Havdalah spice box, Rimmonim (finials used to decorate the Torah scroll) and Torah pointers or Yads (which are used to follow the Hebrew reading from the Torah) along with a selection ofTorah breast plate covers, which are used to decorate the Torah scrolls. We are working with various experts to try and uncover the origin and history of this collection and will add more information soon.
